Jorge Alberto Lucero is an image-maker and ceramicist trained formally at the Illinois State University, where he received his undergraduate degree in the winter of 2023.

During the 2022 academic year, Lucero was awarded the Wonsook Kim School of Art scholarship to attend an artist residency at the famed Anderson Ranch in the Colorado Rockies, where he was able to study under ceramicist Jinsik Yoo. This award is given to a single recipient per year.
